Birdstone helps Shelduck Farm take flight
With Easter fast approaching and the opportunity to spend some time with family, we’d like to share with you a project we completed earlier this year for Shelduck Farm in Tasmania, Traditional Scottish Oatcakes – the perfect addition to your next platter.
Shelduck Farm is a stunning property in the Meander Valley Tasmania, where lucky guests can enjoy boutique farm stay accommodation and the delicious home-baked creations of Sally McCreath. Keen to expand into retail, Birdstone worked closely with Sally to design new packaging for the hero products of her range – Traditional Scottish Oatcakes.
Working with Shelduck Farm’s logo, the iconic Australian Shelduck, Birdstone were asked to design a pack that would best display their premium handmade product whilst maximising shelf presence in a busy retail environment.
We began with an update to the existing packaging format to improve presentation and importantly, protect the fragile product. The newly designed carton made sure the beloved Shelduck sat front and centre, with a custom diecut window showcasing the beautiful products inside.
Paper stocks were carefully selected to ensure the carton reflected the Shelduck brand proposition, was strong enough to protect the product and importantly, had sound environmental credentials. The final product was digitally printed to keep set up costs to a minimum and allow flexibility for future orders.
With Birdstone’s support, Sally was able to make informed choices, engage reliable suppliers and minimise financial risk – a crucial aspect for a small business about to take a big first step into the retail market.
Birdstone’s unique 'Creative, Makeable, Sustainable' approach combines award-winning creative thinking and extensive knowledge of packaging materials and manufacture to successfully deliver projects for brand owners large and small.
